SUMMARY:New Year’s Meditation Retreat
DESCRIPTION:January 1-4\, 2025\nBegin the new year with reflection\, clarity\, and intention.\nJoin us at the Mercy Center in Auburn\, CA\n\nOur co-founders\, John Bruna and Laura Bartels\, will return to Mercy Center Auburn to guide this special meditation retreat. This silent retreat is a rare opportunity to be guided by both of these wonderful teachers! \nThe retreat is beginner friendly and will also allow for seasoned meditators to deepen their practice. We will focus on developing the foundational methods and practices to sustain a meditation practice that is right for you. The days will include multiple short meditation sessions\, quiet reflection time\, guidance\, and discussion in the group teachings. \nThe primary meditation will be the foundational practice of shamatha (calm abiding) meditation. Shamatha is a universal practice\, applicable to everyone\, and is the antidote to an obsessive\, compulsive\, busy mind. It enhances any other meditation practice and provides the foundation for mental and emotional balance. \nThere will be ample time for journaling\, walks\, and spaciousness to gain clarity regarding your life and the way you choose to engage in the year that awaits you. \n  \nJohn Bruna\nJohn Bruna\, a former Buddhist monk and author of The Wisdom of a Meaningful Life: The Essence of Mindfulness\, is a counselor\, educator\, mindfulness\, and Dharma teacher. He is the co-founder of the Mindful Life Program and director of the Way of Compassion Foundation. \nLaura Bartels\nLaura Bartels teaches mindfulness courses\, facilitates mindfulness groups\, and gives public talks on living mindfully as one of the certified mindfulness teachers with the Mindful Life Program. She is also one of the instructors for the year-long MLP Mindfulness Teacher Training and Certification program. SUMMARY:Mindful Healing Course January 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Mindful Healing Program \nWe are pleased to announce the first Mindful Healing Program for 2025. This 8-week program focuses on how best to apply mindfulness practices to support our own healing. The program has been specially designed to focus on helping individuals who are personally struggling through hurt\, injury\, illness\, circumstance and/or uncertainty in their life. \nMark Molony is the co-founder of the Mindful Life Program™ and lives in Melbourne\, Australia.  He developed this program over the past few years as he compiled current research on personal healing and mindfulness practices and strategies. In addition to his extensive training and practice as a clinical social worker\, coach\, and educator with over 20 years in private practice\, Mark is familiar with the challenges of healing having worked in the fields of crisis\, trauma\, and recovery for many years. He has also had his own significant opportunities to engage in his own healing. Mark is the author of the soon to be published Mindful Healing – Healing with you in Mind. He is a highly regarded teacher\, therapist\, and facilitator who leads retreats\, workshops\, and trainings in Australia and the USA. \nThe Mindful Healing Program offers participants core insights and strategies to develop and implement a personal healing plan to improve their general wellbeing and help reduce personal suffering. The program introduces a series of useful insights and practices over the eight sessions to assist participants to implement a realistic and achievable healing plan to continue their healing after the program has ended. \nThe Mindful Healing Program Schedule \nIn the US\, Wednesdays\, January 15 – March 5th\, 6 – 8 pm MST;\nIn Australia\, Thursdays\, January 16 – March 6th\, 12 – 2 pm AEST.  \nThe program will be limited to a class size of 15 participants. Should you miss a class\, a video of the class will be offered to enrolled participants. \nThe online classes will be online utilizing Zoom and the course content and learning platform is hosted on our Mindful Life Network. Participants will be invited prior to the start of the course. The Network offers a range of resources and can be accessed on the web or through an app. \nEnrollment in the Mindful Healing Program  \nEnrollment includes: \n\n8 weeks of class sessions of 2 hours each\nLearning platform and course guide and journal\n2 Months membership in the Mindful Life Community\, including the members’ library of guided meditations\n\nAll participants are invited to have an individual 20 min Zoom session with Mark (before the course commences).
